Block pallets

Block pallets are constructed from planks and “blocks”. The block pallet is the counterpart of the stringer pallet, which is entirely composed of planks (also called stringers and boards). The most commonly used block pallet on the European mainland is the EPAL Euro pallet of 80 × 120 cm. In the UK, a block pallet measuring 100 × 120 cm is almost exclusively used. This is the so-called 40 x 48-inch block pallet. The 100 × 120 block pallet is also used in other countries. Many supermarkets use this block pallet in their distribution centres. The suppliers are often obliged to use these block pallets when they are making deliveries to the distribution centre.
